About Craig Barr

Waveform director Craig Barr has 20 years of experience in resource management planning in some of NZ’s most protected landscapes. And this followed nearly a decade of working as a builder, giving him an overall understanding of land development and construction projects and a uniquely practical approach.

Craig has an in-depth understanding of the planning system and development processes, from both an applicant’s perspective and local government’s. He’s adept at blue-sky thinking at plan conception stage, and deep policy evaluation to assist with litigation, through to back-yard subdivision for ‘mum and dad developers’.

Craig has held important roles in the planning sector, including planning manager and principal planner at both local government and private consultancies, and has notable experience in strategic planning and policy development. He has also undertaken his own private land developments.

Craig is a full member of the NZ Planning Institute and a member of the Resource Management Law Association; and has practised throughout the country including Queenstown Lakes, Central Otago, Hauraki Gulf Islands, West Coast, Banks Peninsula and the wider Christchurch area.
