Strategic Advice and Rezoning

Pisa Moorings, Central Otago

We provided strategic advice and statutory planning services to support re-zoning a 24ha area to create 300 houses and mixed-use community activities, including retail convenience stores and an early childhood education centre. A multi-faceted project which required management of various expert input, including surveying and land development engineering, noise, traffic and landscape effects.

Temporary Activities

Resource Consents

Assisted Trademark Live, event leaders in the music industry to secure a resource consent for multiple outdoor concerts for up to 15,000 people at the Queenstown Events Centre and resource consents for concerts at other locations throughout the Country.

Subdivisions & housing consents

Provided planning advice and undertook the resource consent application process on behalf of Queenstown Commercial Ltd, the property development company behind several residential developments in Queenstown, including the significant Kawarau Heights subdivision. This project involved subdivision approvals, consent variations and housing consents.

Local Government

Waveform provides services to local authorities, including the Queenstown Lakes District Council and the Clutha District Council. These include advising on national government policies and resource management reform; regional policy statement submissions and appeals; district plan administration; policy development, and land re-zoning.

Specific projects include advising on national government changes to forestry environmental standards; appeals against resource consents that have been granted by councils; and resolving Environment Court appeals against several aspects of the Queenstown Lakes district plan (including the significant Gibbston Valley, Hogans Gully and Hills Resort Zones; the Wakatipu Basin Zone; and new urban developments in the Upper Clutha region which are impacted by nationwide urban development policies).

“Craig is very approachable and safely navigates projects through planning rules and processes, efficiently and on time.”
